Vernon's Aspenware Increases Production Capacity | Aspenware recently held its grand opening at its new 25,000 square-foot Vernon location on 11 Avenue. The new location, which houses a new production line, increases Aspenware's production capacity by ten-fold, allowing Aspenware to meet the growing demand for its wooden cutlery products. Aspenware Inc. is a Canadian Company, established in 1997, that manufactures wooden forks, knives, spoons and soup spoons in Vernon, British Columbia. Aspenware takes wood that can't be sold and turns it into wooden cutlery that can be composted after its use. Over 100,000 pieces of Aspenware can be made from a single log.

| New Digital Technology Adoption Pilot Program Available from National Research Council of Canada The City of Vernon and Acton Consulting will be hosting an event for local manufacturing businesses to learn about the National Research Council of Canada's Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) and the new Digital Technology Adoption Pilot Program (DTAPP). IRAP supports small and medium sized businesses in Canada with building their technology and innovation capabilities. Industrial Technology Advisors across Canada work with companies on-site to assess their needs and design solutions while offering direct technical assistance, access to the latest technological advances, expertise, facilities and resources.
DTAPP is a pilot program that assists small and medium sized businesses in adopting new digital technologies that improve productivity. The program provides companies with access to expertise in digital technology to help and encourage them to adopt these technologies faster.
This is a great opportunity for anyone in the manufacturing sector to learn about what these programs can offer them.

City of Vernon Provides New Tax Incentives for Development or Renovations Property owners in Vernon's City Centre and Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre now have one more reason to develop. Vernon City Council has adopted the Revitalization Tax Exemption Bylaws providing a tax incentive to encourage development in these areas. Property owners who construct new buildings or make additions or modifications to existing buildings in the City Centre will be eligible for the program. New buildings only will be eligible in the Waterfront Neighbourhood Centre.
The City of Vernon will be hosting an information session on Thursday, June 28 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Vernon City Hall to provide more details about the program and how it works.
