Living in Okanagan North, Vernon BC

The Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board defines the Okanagan North neighbourhood of Vernon BC Real Estate as the area north of the Fintry Delta on the west side of Okanagan Lake, around Head of the Lake, including all of Indian Reserve # 1.
Many of the properties listed as in Okanagan North do sit on leased Native Reserve land - but not all. The Subdivision of Westshore Estates, and Killeney, as well as the areas of of Udell Rd are freehold (traditional title) properties.
Okanagan North homes, therefore range from summer cabins to fulltime year round homes in small communities of their own. Many of the people that live in Okanagan North do not necessarily have to work in town everyday. All cherish the more rural lifestyle.
Children are bussed to and from schools - and depending on location - may attend either in School District #22 Vernon or #23 Kelowna.
There are very few services that are within 30 minutes - but the essentials can be purchased from the few stores on the reserve.
Municipal services like water - are either non existant, or private utility - pulled from the lake and managed privately. The properties out in Okanagan North are on septic service.
