Living in Lavington, North Okanagan BC


Lavington BC is a small rural community within the Municipality of Coldtream, in the North Okanagan. The Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board defines the Lavington neighbourhood as the area of the District of Coldstream east of Ricardo Road including Lavington.

Lavington BC was home to me from 1968  until my parents sold "the family farm" which was actually a small 10 acre orchard - the most easterly in the region. As such - I have many wonderful memories of growing up in a rural community and "farm life."

Most properties in Lavington have at the very least a large lot. Some small acreage parcels exist. There are three subdivision areas - two of which are around the School Road area and the third is Whisper Ridge - higher on the area hills. This unique area has large lots and 160 acres of common ground.

Lavington continues to have a small commercial centre on Highway 6 - with gas station, convenience store, family restaurant etc.

I remember the days of Henri's double-header ice cream for a dime, and Alf's garage and the Lavington Ladies Work Group - who still quilt and gather together to help those in their community and beyond.
