The Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board defines Armstrong together with Spallumcheen for real estate purposes as the Municipalities of Armstrong and Spallumcheen on both sides of Highway 97A north of Swan Lake.

Schools - The area is part of the North Okanagan Shuswap School District and is served by 4 public schools – Highland Park and Armstrong Elementary, Len Wood Middle School and Pleasant Valley Secondary – as well as North Okanagan Junior Academy, a private school. In addition, there is a Gateway Community Learning Centre Downtown.

Post secondary education is available in nearby Vernon at Okanagan College, and within a one hour drive at the University of British Columbia – Okanagan in Kelowna.
